Home Theater Ideas
When coming up with home theater ideas there are two main categories you should look at. The first is the space you have available for your system. You don’t want to crowd too much in as it will be overpowering in a big room. It is much better to have a smaller screen and use small speakers than have large items that overpower a room. In any case with the advent of flat panel wall screens you probably won’t be restricted that much.
The second aspect you need to consider is what you want your system to do. Are you very concerned with sound and picture quality or are you more concerned with sticking to your budget. The best place to start is to set yourself an ideal budget. You can then plan what you want and see if it is in your budget, if you are under budget you can upgrade your ideas, if you are over budget to can downgrade your ideas or put a little more in the pot to get exactly what you want.
On the topic of budget a good home theatre system should last you at least five years before you have to upgrade because of technological advances and if you are not too worried about the technical details it could last 7-10 years. Take this into consideration when setting your budget. Get it right now and you won’t need to upgrade for a good while.
Now for the system:
A typical system has only 3 basic components.
1) Television to view the movies
2) DVD player to run the DVD/VCD
3) Speakers to create a good real theatre like effect.
You can purchase these as a set or separately. As I said before the space you have for your system is key. Flat panel TV’s are very space saving as they can be hung on a wall and take up very little space.
Surround sound speakers work best when positioned in the back corners of a room so they are behind you when you are facing the TV.
DVD, digital boxes and recorders need a space of their own. None of these items are very large but remember you do need to feed cable to all of them and they need to be easily accessible.
